Description

Body length 8 to 10mm. A wasp like species in black and yellow.

Habitat

Heathland, woodland edge, brown-field sites where St. John's Wort is growing. The larvae feed on St. John's Wort and the adults feed from flowers.

Status and distribution

Uncommon and found mostly in the south and east of England. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire but found fairly regularly at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to June.
