Description

Body length 6 - 7mm. Mainly orange with black markings on the top of the head and thorax and black antennae.

Habitat

Woodland edge and hedgerows, scrubby areas of Hawthorn. The larvae feeds within the developing Hawthorn berry.

Status and distribution

Widely but thinly distributed across southern Britain. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

June to August..
