Description

Body length 10mm. Mostly black but with a broad, red band on the abdomen.

Habitat

Woodland edge and hedgerows. The larvae feed on Rosaceae species.

Status and distribution

Mainly restricted to the south and west of Britain. Recorded twice at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to July.
