Long-legged Fly
Syntormon pallipes
Description
Body length 5mm. The thorax is a glossy, metallic green and the wings are clear. The front two pairs of legs are very pale and the antennae are black, long and flattened.
Habitat
Normally found close to water, the larvae feed on algae.
Status and distribution
Normally a coastal species but with some populations inland, far from the sea. Uncommon at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
April to September.
