Meiosimyza decempunctata

Description

Over all length 4 to 4.5mm. Head, thorax and abdomen are orange and the wings have ten dark spots on them.

Habitat

Woodland edge, hedgerows, thick vegetation. The larvae feed amongst dead leaves.

Status and distribution

Widespread but uncommon in England and Wales. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

April to September.
