Description
Over all length 15 - 17mm. The head, thorax and abdomen are pale yellow with black markings. The abdomen has a black mark on each segment, larger and more triangular in the female.
Habitat
Woodland edge and hedgerows, feeding from umbellifers such as hogweed.
Status and distribution
Common over most of the southern half of Britain, less common further north. Found each year in good numbers at the reserve.
Best time to see
June to August.
