Tipula lunata

Description

Over all length 23 to 26mm. Very similar to T. fascipennis, but the white mark on the wings does not reach right the way to the rear edge.

Habitat

Woodland edge, hedgerows, waste ground and nettle-beds.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to July.
