Leafhopper
Graphocephala fennahi
Description
Over all length 10mm. A large and colourful leafhopper. The fore-wings are green with red stripes and the abdomen and legs are yellow.
Habitat
Normally found on Rhododendron where the adults and nymphs feed on the sap. The one in the photographs was on bramble and hawthorn and probably on dispersal from a nearby rhododendron bush.
Status and distribution
Mainly restricted to the south of England, but spreading slowly north. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons, as there is no rhododendron on site.
Best time to see
July to November.
