Description

Forewing length 12 - 15mm. Light brown marked with darker and lighter patches and with a crescent moon shape at the end of the wing. There are several similar species.

Habitat

Slow-flowing rivers and still waters.

Status and distribution

Common and often abundant in suitable habitat throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to November.
