Marbled Sedge

Hydropsyche contubernalis


Forewing length 13mm. The forewing has a marbled pattern of grey/brown and pale buff, with two large pale patches on its distal margin.


Slow moving rivers and streams.

Status and distribution

Widespread but local throughout Britain. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to September.
