Description
Wingspan 32mm. Grey wings with a yellow stripe along the forward edge. Tends to rest with the wings wrapped around the body, unlike Dingy footman.
Habitat
A wide range of habitats are used, from sand dunes to gardens. The larvae mainly feed on lichens, on posts, twigs or rocks.
Status and distribution
Widely distributed but local in Midlands and the South-West. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
July to August.
