Description

Wingspan 9 to 13mm. Distinctively marked in pale and dark patches.

Habitat

Birch woods and trees. The larva feeds on the catkins.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to June.
