Harpocera thoracica

Description

Body length 6mm. The males and females are different shapes, the males being slimmer and with swollen 2nd antennal segments and longer legs. They are typically dark with thin pale lines on them. The females are browner with a red spot on the scutellum.

Habitat

Normally found on Oak.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread throughout Britain, though less common in the north and Scotland. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to June.
