Description
Over all length 6 - 8mm. A variable bug that may be black with red cunea (ends of the fore-wings) or red with a yellow scutellum, or a combination.
Habitat
Often found on nettles or other herbaceous plants where it preys on other insects.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in southern England, less common further north and absent from Scotland. Common and widespread in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
July to September.
