Description
Over all length 7 to 8mm.A bristly, black fly with black shading to the wings and some of its wing veins.
Habitat
Woods, woodland edge and shady areas. The adults feed from umbelifers and the larvae develop inside woodlouse species such as the Common Rough and Common Shiny Woodlouse.
Status and distribution
Thinly recorded throughout most of Britain. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
June to August.
