Notaris acridulus

Description

Over all length - 5mm. A small dark weevil covered with fine brown hair that rubs off as the insect ages. The elytra and pronotum are heavily punctured.

Habitat

Wet, marshy areas, particularly associated with Reed Sweet-grass.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread throughout Britain, thinning out towards the north of Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to September.
