Red Marsh Ladybird
Coccidula rufa
Description
Over all length 2.5 to 3mm. A hairy, red/brown ladybird with some darker marks towards the centre/front of the elytra.
Habitat
Wetlands and marshes, although in late summer they can disperse to dryer areas. Both adults and larvae feed on aphids.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread throughout England and Wales, though more restricted in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
All year.
