Description

Over all length 2.5 to 3mm. A small red-brown beetle with clubbed antennae. There are several similar species so care must be taken with identification. This one is possibly E. melina.

Habitat

Woodland, woodland edge and hedgerows. The adult beetles feed on sap from herbaceous plants.

Status and distribution

Widespread but thinly recorded throughout Britain.

Best time to see

April to September.
