Ground Beetle

Bembidion guttula

Description

Over all length 3 to 3.5mm. A small ground beetle, mostly dark brown with a pale patch towards the end of its elytra. There are several similar species but the photographs are probably of B. guttula.

Habitat

Amongst the leaf litter and detritus of water margins.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread throughout England, Wales and southern Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

All year.
