Green Dock Beetle

Gastrophysa viridula


Over all length 4 - 8mm. A small metallic green leaf beetle. The female has a hugely swollen abdomen when her eggs are developing.


Mainly found on docks, the food plant of adults and larvae.

Status and distribution

Common and Widespread with a westerly bias. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

March to October.
