Description
Over all length 4 - 5mm. The elytra are red with seven to nine black spots (can be very variable with more or fewer spots) and two white spots. The pronotum is black edged with white and with two white spots.
Habitat
Can be found on low vegetation where the adults and larvae feed on aphids.
Status and distribution
Mainly concentrated in the south and east, thinning our to the west and north and infrequent in Scotland. Well distributed in Nottinghamshire and can be quite common. Found once at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
May to September.
