Description

Body length 10 - 12mm. A black species with a long thin body and very long ovipositor. The front two pairs of legs are reddish.

Habitat

Hedgerow, this was found in a Cherry Tree.

Status and distribution

The NBN website only shows one other record for this species, at Wicken Fen. This species is probably under-recorded and possibly sparsely distributed over southern Britain.

Best time to see

May to June.
