Description

Small, inconspicuous, black, brown or yellow wasps which are very difficult to identify. There are over 1,000 species in Britain, in around 140 genera. Most of them are ectoparasitoids of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera larvae. The ones pictured are one of the larger species and were feeding on nectar from a Hogweed flower.
