Description

Body length 9 - 10mm. The workers can be dark with faint pale lines between the abdominal segments or the first two abdominal segments could be dull orange and the lines between the segments slightly stronger.

Habitat

Can be found almost anywhere that there are flowers, even cities and built up areas.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread throughout the whole of Britain.

Best time to see

March to October.
