Bombus sylvestris
Description
Body length 14 - 15mm. Black with a yellow collar and white tail. The male is darker and sometimes has little white on the tail and an orange tip to its abdomen.
Habitat
Woodlands, parks, gardens and brown field sites. Main host is Early Bumblebee, Bombus pratorum.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread throughout Britain. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire but not often seen at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
April to September.
