Description

Body length 8 - 35mm. A black wasp with three abdominal yellow bands.

Habitat

A wide range of habitats are used as long as there is dead wood and umbellifers present.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread throughout Britain. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to September.
