Description

Wingspan 30mm. A whitish moth with a broad, dark band across the fore-wing.

Habitat

Rough grasslands. The caterpillar feeds on the flowers and buds of hawkweeds, hawk's-beards and sow-thistles.

Status and distribution

Common and fairly widespread in the south as far north as the Midlands. Less common further north

Best time to see

May to July.
