Description
Wing span 14 to 18mm. Variably marked in bands of brown and grey, with a brown triangle at the tip of the fore-wing.
Habitat
Woodland edge, hedgerows and scrubland. The food plants for the larvae include Hawthorn and Blackthorn.
Life History
Fairly common throughout England except the West Country, with a few records from Wales also. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
June and July.
