Description
Body length 8 – 11mm. A pale robberfly with a long, thin abdomen. It is grey-brown with some darker stripes on its thorax. The wings only reach just over half way down the abdomen.
Habitat
Grassland and scrubby grassland. The adults prey on aphids and leaf-hoppers. The larvae live in the soil but it is not known exactly what they feed on.
Status and Distribution
Distributed throughout southern Britain. Fairly common at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
May to August.
