Description
Wingspan 35 – 45mm. This moth has a fairly distinctive pattern, with a pale shallow V-mark on the fore-wing.
Habitat
Mostly in cultivated areas but also in woodland and marshes. The caterpillar feeds on a wide variety of herbaceous plants, including nettles, dead-nettles, willowherbs and burdock.
Status and Distribution
Common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
May to October in two broods.
