Description
Over all length 7 – 8mm. An orange-bodied fly with dark bars on its wings.
Habitat
Hedgerows and woodland edge. Larvae develop inside rose-hips.
Status and Distribution
Fairly evenly distributed through England, Scotland and Wales. Uncommon at the reserve.
Best Time to See
Late July to September.
