Pied Shieldbug

Tritomegas bicolor

Description

Body length 5.5 – 8mm. A small black shieldbug with white markings on the wing cases. The lateral abdominal margin is banded black and white.

Habitat

Woodland edge and hedgerows where they feed on White Dead-nettle or Black Horehound.

Status and Distribution

Fairly common in southern Britain but absent from Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best Time to See

April to August.
