Description
Over all length 5mm. An orange fly with a dark leading edge and tip to its wings and five dark spots.
Habitat
Woodland edge and hedgerows. The adults can be seen feeding from umbellifers such as Hogweed.
Status and Distribution
Fairly common and widespread in Britain. Seen regularly on the reserve.
Best Time to See
May to August.
