Body length 9 – 11mm. The female has orange hind legs and an orange pile on the thorax. There are distinctive narrow pale bands on the abdomen. The males are dark with a pale thoracic pile and very long antennae.
Habitat
Can be found in a wide range of habitats and feeds from a variety of flowers.
Status and Distribution
Common and widespread in Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
April to October.
