Description
Over all length 7 – 8mm. Very like Deraeocoris ruber but the cunea (end of the fore-wing ) is yellowish, not red. The scutellum is narrowly bordered with pale cream. Males are normally dark or black whilst females are reddish.
Habitat
Woodland and hedgerows where it feeds from a variety of trees, particularly found on Sycamore and Field Maple.
Status and Distribution
A recent arrival in Britain that has rapidly colonised the south and the Midlands. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
June to July.
