Description
Over all length 20mm. The thorax is grey with darker stripes and the abdomen is also grey with darker markings on each segment.
Habitat
Woodland edge and hedgerows, resting on low herbage from which they launch their attacks mainly on passing flies but also on wasps, bees, moths and beetles.
Status and Distribution
Fairly common and widespread over the southern half of Britain, but uncommon further north. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
May to October.
