Description
Over all length 4 – 5mm. Black with two red spots and a flange or rim around the wing cases.
Habitat
Woodland where they feed on scale insects, often on the bark of trees, especially Ash and Sallow.
Status and Distribution
Fairly common in England and Wales, less common in Scotland and the West Country. Widespread in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
April to October.
