Description
Over all length 8 – 10mm. There are several very similar species in this genus. They have metallic green bodies and red eyes.
Habitat
Common in most habitats, the larvae developing in carrion and dung.
Status and Distribution
Common and well distributed throughout Britain.
Best Time to See
All year. Hibernates as adult.
