Description
Body length 9 – 18mm. Normally a ginger coloured bee, although some may be paler and yellowish. The thorax has a dense ginger pile, the first four abdominal segments are grey and the last two are ginger or yellowish.
Habitat
Woodland edge, hedgerows, parks, gardens, meadows and brown-field sites. They forage on a wide variety of flowering plants.
Status and Distribution
Common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
April to September.
