Description
Wingspan 34 – 44mm. The wings are a dark brown with two bands of burnished brass across them.
Habitat
Woodland edge, hedgerows and grassy swards. The larvae feed on several herbaceous plants, including nettles, dead-nettle and thistles.
Status and Distribution
Fairly common and widely distributed throughout Britain. Common and widespread in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
June to September.
