Description
Wingspan 21mm. A grey moth with a white tuft of hairs towards the rear of the thorax. There is one dark spot on the fore-wing towards the centre but closer to the leading edge.
Habitat
A wide range of open habitats are used but not normally associated with woodland. The larvae feed on Golden-rod and Ragworts.
Status and Distribution
Local but widely spread throughout Britain, most often in the South-west and Wales. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best Time to See
May to August in two broods.
