Eriothrix rufomaculata

Description

Over all length 7.5 - 9mm. A mostly black fly with red sides to the abdomen.

Habitat

Grasslands where the adults visit flowers. 

Status and distribution

Widespread and quite common but showing a southerly bias. Regularly seen on the reserve.

Best time to see

June to end of September.
