Description

Over all length 6 - 8mm. This species is all black with a dark stigma in the wing.

Habitat

Marshes and fens with some tall plants to rest on. Has been found along the Lower Path.

Status and distribution

Through most of the British Isles, though thinly spread towards the east of Scotland. Only encountered twice on the reserve.

Best time to see

Mid-May to August.
