Description

Wingspan 16 to 22mm. Looks more like a bird dropping than a moth. The yellow face is diagnostic.

Habitat

Hedgerows, woodland edge and scrub. The main larval food plant is rose.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread throughout Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to July.
