Description

Wingspan 18 to 22mm. A variable grey to buff species with three pairs of marks along the forward edge of its wings.

Habitat

Birch is the foodplant, so anywhere that birches grow.

Status and distribution

Recently expanding its range northwards from the south of England. Uncommon in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

March to October.
