Green Longhorn

Adela reaumurella

Description

Wingspan 15mm. The wings are a pale metallic green and the antennae are about three times as long as the wing. The female has shorter antennae.

Habitat

Woodland, often dances in swarms around oak. The larvae feed on oak leaves and in leaf-litter in a portable case.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in England and Wales, although local in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to June.
