Korscheltellus (=Hepialus) lupulinus
Description
Wingspan 25 - 40mm. The fore-wings are brown with a white mark along the inner edge and a white sub-terminal band.
Habitat
Grassy areas, along woodland rides, roadside verges, brown-field sites. The caterpillar feeds on the roots of grasses and other herbaceous plants.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in England and Wales, local in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
May to July.
