Description

Wingspan 6 to 9mm. Black with white stripes and markings.

Habitat

Grassland and scrub. The adults feed on flowers such as buttercups and daisies. The larvae feed on the seeds of Cock's-foot.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.

Best time to see

May to July.
