Description
Wingspan 28 - 34mm. The fore-wings are light brown, barred and marked with a darker brown. the hind-wings are a dull yellow/orange with darker brown markings. Often flies in the daytime.
Habitat
Grasslands and open areas with the larval food plants, legumes such as bird's-foot trefoil and clovers.
Status and distribution
Common and fairly widespread in the southern half of Britain. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
May to July.
