Description
Body length 10 - 13mm. A purple coloured, hairy shieldbug with the lateral abdominal margins (connexivum) and antennae banded black and white. Becomes dull brown in winter.
Habitat
Woodland edge and hedgerows. Often on brambles or roses.
Status and distribution
Common and widespread in the south. Less common and coastal further north. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
March to November.
